Downie's Cottage - Fully Restored A-listed Historic Croft House - 5 Star Self Catering Cottage Braemar with Hot Tub and Sauna - Sleeps 2
Downie’s Cottage is thought to have been the highest working farm in Scotland and is located high on the shoulder of Morrone with breathtaking views over the village of Braemar and the Dee valley in the heart of the Cairngorms National Park. The property was abandoned sometime between the wars, and although the steading was damaged by fire many years ago, the house remained largely as an undisturbed time capsule complete with box beds, old shoes and Victorian Christmas cards. On discovering this gem, Historic Scotland determined it as a building of national importance listing it as Category A, and since then it has been lovingly restored to provide it with a new lease of life for the 21st Century as a comfortable Scottish Tourist Board 5 Star holiday cottage.

Please note that starting April 2021 we are building a new house within the 3 acres of Downie's Croft. The construction site is on the far side of the steading and will be fenced off, but there may be some disturbance during working hours.
